One of the interesting e-mails that landed in my inbox was a weekly soulcare mesagge from Rachelle Mee-Chapman, spiritual director of Flock, an online community for women looking for "a spirituality that fits."

In that e-mail, Rachelle asked us Flock members how we want to honor our work.

“What work of your hands do you want to honor? What work has you heart done that you want to honor? Our list of tasks and "should's" can seem endless at times. But you are so much more than your chores. It's such an affirming practice to notice what you've accomplished, and it's important to notice that you are enough just the way you are.”

I’ve been reflecting on that this message for the past few days and I was thinking how to honor my work. Or for that matter, how to honor my writing work – which is both a source of livelihood and enjoyment. It’s also my love of writing (and traveling) that encouraged me (and my lil sis) to launch The Gypsygals. Thanks to our lovely space here in the world wide web, we are able to blog about our adventures as solo female travelers and inspire you to also craft your own journeys.

So here’s how I want to honor my work – my (travel) writing – by giving you a list of links on traveling, writing and work to inspire and empower you in your journey as a solo female traveler, a gypsygal.

If you are one solo female traveler who want write more about your journey and want to be really good at it (and is contemplating a career in travel writing) then this slide presentation may help you with it.

The writing process, like any creative activity can be messy. But sometimes, you need to write a bunch of crap first, spend time to work around messiness, for you yield that gem of a story (or a travel blog post).

Travel blogging is growing and is becoming an industry in itself that conferences have been organized worldwide to gather travel bloggers in one roof. The most recent one was held in Innsbruck in Austria, and one of the participants shared her impression of the event. The comment section alone is a very interesting read.

Do men and women travel differently? One male traveler decided to find the answer to the question by interviewing several solo female travelers. Both the article and the comment section have interesting insights on traveling as a woman.

One of the smartest tips that I got while traveling is this: If you can’t afford to get travel insurance then you can’t afford to travel. This blog post has tips on how to buy travel insurance.

Journeying within and without is only possible if you know how to have peace of mind, knows self love and can practice self care. It’s the only way towards a blissful travel and a sweeter life.

Busyness is not an excuse to neglect your health – and I learned my lessons the hard way. So, turn off that smartphone and perhaps, for just an hour, enjoy that relaxing yoga session. Om shanti shanti.
