I love farewells. That may sound weird but believe me, I have learned, through the years, that letting go is perhaps the best way that can happen to me, or to anyone I love.

So I decided to dedicate this week's link post to my friend Avie, who will be leaving Manila soon for a new job (and life) in Bangkok.

Instead of feeling sad, I feel a lot of happiness inside.  As a solo female traveler – and sometime expat – I know  that leaving behind your family, friends and hometown is the best way to find and accept yourself.

And I hope that any woman who is now thinking of traveling alone may leave soon enough and in the process learn there's happiness and wisdom in detachment.
