This is a slightly different version of my usual link post. Instead of compiling posts and stories for and by solo female travelers, I decided to compile links related to The Girl Effect Blogging campaign – spearheaded by Tara Mohr, writer, coach and personal growth teacher who I admire and seek to emulate .
This campaign is especially close to my heart, if only because it seeks to empower women. After all, this is what The Gypsygals is all about – inspiring and empowering women to craft their own journeys and live life on their own terms. In this case, I'm joining The Girl Effect blogging campaign to raise awareness of the plight of poor girls in developing countries. Most of them have no access to quality education and health services and I'm hoping that by being aware of their plight, we will be encouraged to do something to help them improve their lives and grow up as educated and empowered women.
You can watch these videos if you want to know more about The Girl effect.
Here's a cute video which will inform and inspire you to be part of The Girl Effect blogging campaign:
This landmark study prepared by International Center for Research on Women, Caren Grown, American University will give you all the data that you want to know about the situation of girls in developing world and how improving their lives is the right choice for all of us.
You can go here if you want to invest in one girl's future. Believe me, you don't need to be a gazillionaire to make an impact. You wouldn't believe how much a $50 donation can do to help girls in Bangladesh or Tanzania.
